Weekly Brew January 5
New Year, Same Grift.
Happy New Year, caffeinated resisters!
Well. The regime has surely started 2026 off with a BANG, in more ways than one. So much for a sleepy January.
Hoffner Park was out on Monday.
The whistle kit team had a surprisingly large turnout on Tuesday. Due to high demand they have set another meeting for January 13. Here’s the skinny from Greg:
“Thanks to everyone who showed up to assemble and distribute the whistle kits in support of our immigrant neighbors. We assembled well over 600 kits and had a great time connecting with friends! We’ve moved the next Whistlemania from 1/6 to 1/13 in order to give us time to obtain more supplies. So next event will be 1/13, 6:30, location (TBD will know next week)”
Supplies needed if you can help:
Sandwich bags
Whistles on Amazon 72 pk/$9.99 (WSYUB 72Pcs Plastic Whistles, Bulk Whistles)
On Wednesday we rang out the New Year in JD’s hood.
Then got a little educational with the Signs of Fascism on New Years Day.
And Saturday was BUSY!!!! The Tesla team was of course out in force. In February they will be celebrating ONE YEAR of steady demonstrations at this location. Come join the festivities one Saturday, all the cool kids are doing it.
Then, before our planned Nativity event at St. Peter in Chains, an emergency protest popped up across the street at City Hall, speaking out against Trump’s actions overnight in Venezuela. Thanks to Ken for the photo:
We hit the streets as the Holy Family and the Three Kings at 3pm. It was a...spirited event.

MUST WATCH OF THE WEEK
Y’know...everytime I think we’ve hit Peak CrazyTown, this administration seems to find another level and the operation in Venezuela is....I have no words.
Have you sat down and watched the full press conference? I did and in case you can’t stomach it, I took notes. During the presser...
Trump said the US will run Venezuela until they can “judiciously” transfer power. You could hear his dentures struggling with the word “judiciously.”
He detoured into talking about how troops in our streets in Memphis and New Orleans are reducing crime and they’ll be coming to many more cities soon.
He talked a lot about OIL, including claiming Venezuela stole our oil.
He mentioned the murder of Jocelyn Nungaray in 2024 as potential justification for military action.
He, and I’m not making this up, called the Monroe Doctine the DONroe Doctrine (facepalm)
He said they might have to do a second strike. Probably not because this one was so great. But if they do do a second, it’ll be MUCH BIGGER.
He then handed off to Pete Hegseth, but not before reporters could start shouting “Mr. President, how will the US run Venezuela?”. That was ignored.
Pete bloviated about Guts, Grits and Glory while Trump appeared to fall asleep standing up behind him.
Pete again made a cringeworthy FAFO joke.
Trump appeared to nod off during Cain and Rubio’s comments as well.
During Q & A, Trump actually uttered the words “Make Venezuela Great Again”
He was asked why they didn’t notify Congress and he passed the buck to Rubio, who claimed it would endanger the mission.
When asked how running a South American country is “America First” Trump said basically “because we need their energy.”
He then hints Cuba is next.
And ends by claiming Opposition leader (and Nobel laureate) Machado doesn’t have the support to lead.

Thanks! Love that you are on Substack.
